Downtown Greensboro Incorporated Now Accepting Applications for Vibrancy Grant Program
Greensboro, N.C. – Downtown Greensboro Incorporated (DCI) has launched the Vibrancy Grant Program, allowing small businesses located downtown to apply for up to $2,500 of financial support to improve services, expand commercial opportunities and enhance the visual appeal of storefronts.
“Downtown Greensboro’s vibrant economy and unique character are propelled by the small businesses that line our streets,” said Zack Matheny, President & CEO of DGI. “We are excited about this opportunity to directly support small business growth, while also contributing to the overall vibrancy of our downtown.”
On behalf of downtown businesses, DGI applied for a grant from the Duke Energy Foundation and was awarded $25,000 to help support the Vibrancy Grant Program. The program was designed to further boost business growth and to elevate the appearance of downtown storefronts.
The grant application period opened on September 9 and will close on October 11. Eligible grant expenditures include:
- New Technology for Sales Efficiency: This covers investments in new point-of-sale systems and other electronic equipment, expanding advertising and digital marketing efforts, increasing social media presence, and programs aimed at workforce development and job creation.
- Investments to Expand Services and Commerce: Eligible expenses include modifying physical spaces to improve functionality, covering material and construction costs, and reimbursing for tools, furniture, fixtures, and equipment such as tables, chairs, and display counters. Signage, billboard expenses, and sourcing goods and services from local suppliers are also covered.
- Storefront Beautification: This includes projects that improve the appearance or curb appeal of the business, such as interior and exterior painting, awnings, lighting fixtures, outdoor seating or gathering areas, and planters.
