First Saturday Stroll on Elm Features Spelling Bee, Live Music and Vendor Market

Free community event returns to the 300 block of Elm Street on August 1

 
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Downtown Greensboro Inc. invites the community to the First Saturday Stroll on Elm on Saturday, August 1, beginning at noon on the 300 block of Elm Street between McGee and Washington streets. The event is free and open to the public.
 
Every first Saturday, the 300 block of Elm Street comes alive with local vendors, small businesses, live music, dancing and activities for the whole family. Whether you're a downtown regular or just looking for something fun to do, the Stroll is a good reason to get outside and explore local businesses, and all downtown has to offer.
 
The centerpiece of this month's Stroll is a Spelling Bee in The Square, open to both kids and adults, beginning at 4 p.m. Participants can sign up in advance at littlebrotherbrew.com/spellingbee.
 
Musician Finn Phoenix will perform live from 2 to 5 p.m., and GSOul Breakdancing will host an open cypher from 2 to 4 p.m.
 
Throughout the afternoon, participating businesses will be collecting school supplies for the Shift_Ed Teacher Supply Warehouse, which provides free classroom materials to area teachers. The drive runs through Labor Day, and the list of participating businesses continues to grow. More information is available at shift-ed.org/teacher-supply-warehouse.

Additional programming for the August Stroll includes Hoop Greensboro, Reconsidered Goods, the Pink Ribbon Pop-Up, Renewal by Andersen, vendors from The Forge and Design Archives, D Scents Candles & More, Krave Kava Bar, Once Upon A Wish Travel, Bella Brush Face Painting, Market St. Playpark, Unfettered Books and Strange Ways Comics & More.
