Rise Above Your Algorithm

Details

Join us for an engaging gathering of curious minds to contemplate beyond the media we’re being fed by our individual algorithms and learn how others are thinking about current topics, inspirations and oddities. In a *video salon discussion* format, we’ll take in a few video snippets and provide a frame for discussion here in the gallery at PROXY.

Format_

We’ll have a short welcome/mingle/libation session for 20-30 minutes
We will collectively watch 3-5 videos no more than 15 minutes total
We’ll open the floor for discussion based on what people are feeling/thinking about the clips
We will pause, and the moderators will describe their curatorial selection process for the clips
We’ll open it back up for discussion to see if the arc of conversation is swayed at all by the moderator’s rationale

We are asking for video submissions to be considered for showing. They can be no longer than 5 minutes. The need to respond to the theme in some way - ANY WAY!

These can be:
videos you’ve produced
videos from YouTube or another platform (Vimeo, etc.) no longer than 5 minutes or a snippet of a longer video of which we’ll only show the 5 minute portion you choose
social media posts
anything you have a copyright to, or is under a Creative Commons license

**The theme is: ERUPT**

To submit to have your video submission considered, fill out the form on our website event page. Then get ready for a really cool evening of media art and discussion!
