Greensboro, N.C. – With compelling specials and fixed price menus at local restaurants, this year’s Chow Downtown led to increased foot traffic downtown providing a boost to local businesses during a traditionally slower season of the year.

Chow Downtown Restaurant Week is organized by Downtown Greensboro, Inc.  to celebrate the local culinary scene by offering special menus and promotions during the week of January 21 – 27. These initiatives aim to attract diners to explore diverse dining options within the community and encourage eating locally.

“Chow Downtown was a wonderful way for us to give something new and exciting to regular guests while enticing and cultivating new guests,” said Wes Wheeler, owner of Undercurrent. “It was a lot of fun.”

Chow Downtown serves as a powerful promotional tool for local businesses, allowing restaurants to showcase their culinary offerings and attract a broader customer base. This year’s Chow Downtown resulted in a 9% increase in foot traffic downtown during dinner-time hours, according to cell phone data.

New this year, patrons scanned a QR code at participating downtown establishments while dining to enter a daily drawing throughout Restaurant Week to be entered to win a $100 gift card to a local business of their choice. The program was a huge success, with 278 entries throughout the week and 63% of participants saying that Chow Downtown brought them to downtown Greensboro.

Beyond the culinary aspect, restaurant week contributes to the local economy by attracting tourists and visitors, benefiting not only restaurants but also nearby businesses.
