As part of their Downtown in December presented by Allegacy programming, Downtown Greensboro Inc. (DGI) has established a GoFundMe to provide free meals to those in need during the holiday season. The 12 Days of Meals campaign has an established goal of $36,000 which will provide 250 warm meals a day, December 1-12, to Greensboro Urban Ministry.
"We believe the 2020 holiday season means supporting our neighbors now more than ever," says Stacy Calfo, Director of Marketing for DGI. "This campaign aims to do just that by not only supporting those less fortunate in the community, but also providing much-needed support to our downtown restaurants."
The Wyndham Championship donated $5,000 to kick-off the fundraising campaign.
“The Greensboro community has been so supportive of us for more than 80 years,” says Tournament Director Mark Brazil. “It’s our privilege to provide warm meals to those in need in our community this winter.”
Donations to the GoFundMe campaign will provide individually boxed meals at a cost of $12 per meal and include a 20% gratuity to participating downtown restaurants. To date, the following downtown restaurants have pledged their support to provide meals: 1618 Downtown, Acropolis, Baked Downtown, Blue Denim, Cheesecakes by Alex, Chez Genese, Cincy's, Crafted, Dames Chicken and Waffles, Deep Roots Market, Ghassan's, Heavenly Buffaloes, Jerusalem Market, Liberty Oak, Los Chicos, MACHETE, Manny's Universal Cafe, Mellow Mushroom, Midori, Natty Greene's, Undercurrent, and White and Wood.
