Greensboro, N.C. – Due to the enthusiastic response from the business community, Downtown Greensboro, Inc. (DGI) will match the generous Duke Energy Foundation Grant adding an additional $25,000 to the Vibrancy Grant Program to directly support small businesses and enhance vibrancy of downtown storefronts.
“Our decision to match the generous donation from the Duke Energy Foundation will allow us to double our impact and directly support 20 small businesses in their efforts to revitalize downtown storefronts,” said Zack Matheny, President and CEO of Downtown Greensboro, Inc. “Momentum is growing downtown with rising visitation numbers and several large development projects underway. These grant dollars will help ensure our small business owners are ready to meet the demands of a burgeoning downtown.”
In July, Downtown Greensboro Incorporated (DGI) applied for and was awarded a $25,000 by Duke Energy Foundation’s small business grant program to support retail shops, restaurants and other small businesses looking to expand, upgrade technology and improve downtown storefronts. In response to this grant award, DGI has designed a Vibrancy Grant program (VGP) to stimulate business growth and enhance the aesthetics of downtown storefronts.
Due to the enthusiastic interest from downtown businesses with more than 65 applications submitted, DGI decided to expand the program in an effort to double the impact of this valuable opportunity and build upon Duke Energy’s initial investment in our downtown community.
DGI will accept applications for the second round starting November 4th, with final grant awards announced by December 3rd. For more information, please visit downtowngreensboro.org/about-us.
