Small Business Saturday, Merry Madness, Piedmont Winterfest
Downtown Greensboro, Inc.’s (DGI) Downtown in December presented by Allegacy officially kicks off this Saturday with a variety of experiences sure to bring the holiday spirit to all ages.
SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY
Make your way through downtown for local holiday finds on Small Business Saturday, November 27. Get a jump on holiday shopping and catch a ride on the trolley to your favorite downtown retailers. Many downtown retailers will feature special sales and have extended shopping hours. The downtown trolley will run 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
“Statistics show that for every dollar spent in a local business, 70 cents stay in the community, compared to only 40 cents when shopping at a national chain,” says Zack Matheny, President and CEO of DGI. “Now more than ever, let’s support our locally owned businesses and our community as a whole.”
MERRY MADNESS PASSPORT: November 27-December 24
Downtown shoppers will get the chance to win big this holiday season with the Merry Madness Passport program. Participants can spend $25 or more in a downtown business, then upload a photo of their signed receipt via the Downtown Greensboro App to be entered into a weekly drawing for $500. Additionally, the represented business on the receipt will also receive $500. Spend more money, get more entries. For example, spend $100 and receive four weekly entries. The passport will run for 4 weeks, with the first drawing held on December 3 and the last on December 24.
PIEDMONT WINTERFEST now thru January 30
The Downtown Greensboro ice rink returns to the Lewis Street parking lot (near SouthEnd Brewing and Fat Tuesday). Visit piedmontwinterfest.com the see the season schedule.
Holiday Window Decorating Contest: November 27-December 31
Downtown businesses are getting into the holiday spirit. The public is invited to stroll through the center city and vote on their favorite window display from participating businesses, via Facebook Poll. The winning business will receive a cash prize to be used for advertising. The contest runs to December 31. Visit Downtown Greensboro Holiday Windows for a list of participating businesses.
