The DGI Retail Revitalization Grant Program is a small business grant available to help businesses in downtown Greensboro impacted by both COVID-19 as well as vandalism and looting that took place in late May. Grants of up to $1,500 will be awarded for new business plan initiatives, inventory growth, marketing, rent assistance, job retention, and other related business expenses.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Any storefront retail business that sells a good or service located in the downtown Greensboro Business Investment District (BID) is eligible to apply.
  • Must have been open for business prior to March 15, 2020 to be eligible.
  • Grant recipients may request up to $1,500

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Complete the application form (below) and include a 30-second or less video explaining who you are, what your retail business does and how the funds will be used. DGI may use this video as a social media post to introduce you to the greater community as part of marketing your business, and the grant program.

SOURCE OF FUNDS
The lead organizations of Downtown Greensboro, Inc (DGI) and the Guilford Merchants Association (GMA) contributed to the start of the program. In addition, a contribution to the fund was awarded by the Greensboro Virus Relief Fund, established by the United Way of Greater Greensboro, Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, and the City of Greensboro.

With a goal to help as many downtown retailers as possible, DGI will continue to solicit matching grant funds from corporations throughout the Triad. For members of the public who would like to help our downtown retailers in their time of need, a GoFundMe account has been set-up to receive additional donations for the grant program.
